Dear friends of Greensider,
It’s been a while! What can we say - web development work is like an iceberg. Alas, we finally have the ‘tip’ to show.
First of all, we invite you to join our new Discord community! Here, we can engage in friendly conversations on sustainability topics and beyond. There’s also a monthly book club where we read a book together and seek inspirations on how to build a more sustainable future.
In September, we’re reading the Ministry for the Future. This novel was chosen by Barack Obama as one of his favourite reads of 2020 and praised by many others. It’s about an organisation established in 2025, with the purpose of advocating for the world’s future generations and protecting all living creatures, present and future. It soon became known as the Ministry for the Future, and this is its story.
Speaking of storytelling, we have Katy Tallon on the latest episode of Greensider Stories. As the Global Production Sustainability Manager at Fremantle, Katy believes the TV industry can have a big impact by reducing its own greenhouse gas emissions and influencing the audience’s climate actions. In this podcast, she shares how she combined her experience and passion for creative production with knowledge in carbon management, as well as her insights of green jobs in the industry. Even if TV production is not your thing, this episode is worth listening as Katy’s message goes to all who want to pivot their career for the environment: be creative with your background and skills because everything has an impact!
In regards to the ‘base’ of the iceberg, there's been a ton of technical work on the website, including improved logo, design and interactions, more efficient image formats and graphics to improve speed and reduce our carbon footprint, and countless other things not worth mentioning here. We also wrote a new About and laid out the framework for our Profiles, so stay tuned because they're coming out very soon!
Finally, we are now greensider.org! (not .com, although the link still works). We discovered by chance that the domain got released, so we grabbed it to have a domain more aligned with our non-profit mission.
Check us out!
Cheers,
Yongsi & Alex
